QCNYS 40th Anniversary Year of Celebration 2026
The Anniversary Planning Committee is beginning in earnest to gather together the many ideas that have been floating around for how to celebrate the 40th Anniversary.
The planning committee has decided to make it a year long celebration by featuring an Era of QCNYS history at each of our four quarterly meetings during 2026.
We have divided the 40 years into Eras of 10 years,
according to the date that each guild became a member of QCNYS.
Era 1 = 1986-1995
Era 2 = 1996-2005
Era 3 = 2006-2015
Era 4 = 2016-2025
Our aim is to have each member guild share and celebrate their individual histories through oral presentations, stories, story boards, video’s, show and tells, etc. as well as sharing the past history of QCNYS. The specific components of each meeting will be determined and planned with the guilds of that Era.
WRITE YOUR GUILD’S HISTORY
To assist in this planning we are asking each guild in the four Eras to write a history of their guild that will be shared and be the basis for the program of each of the quarterly meetings. (Please print the “Write Your Guild History” PDF to help you and your guild with this Four Era History project.)
These histories will be gathered together into a “Book of 40 Years” at the December 2026 quarterly meeting which will be the concluding celebration.
The stories/histories are filled with gems of information and knowledge that include the many contributions of individual members who have helped to build the threads that are woven into this history of 40 years of QCNYS.
One of the other important ways we have decided to share the history of the past 40 years is through a taped video interview with Eugenia Barnes. We will present a segment of this interview at each of the quarterly meetings. Eugenia, was one of the beginning pioneers of the concept of QCNYS.
MORE CELEBRATION HIGHLIGHTS
Another element of the Program for each of the quarterly meetings in 2026 will be a presentation by a member of the QCNYS Board giving highlights of our early history and important developments and changes throughout our history.
A raffle quilt in honor of all our Founders will also be made to celebrate this Anniversary Year.
We hope to have a display of photos, fabrics, and perhaps a quilt from each of the four Eras.
YOUR TALENT AND CONTRIBUTIONS
We will need the input and talent of each of you to make these quarterly meetings during 2026, celebrations of sharing, learning and fun. Your contributions are important and valuable.
